One guesses it has to do with the amount of chlorophyll, which one further supposes has to do with different capacities to photosynthesize, which one wildly speculates may indicate greater or lesser evolution from a non-parasitic ancestor (morning glory).

Well they don't need chlorophyll I guess if they mug, stab and strangle other plants for their lunch *g*
