First: Interesting meditation on zines, the internet and counter culture.
Second: I think I used to be offended by the idea of TV (while also loving it) because in that context we have all always been the product that is being delivered to advertisers. The content was/is just what puts us there. Of course if you are a minimal consumer it's moot. The sensibilities in almost all commercials offend me more than appeal to me and generally make me less likely to buy a product.

I guess the process is more insidious on the internet and therefore harder to see how we are being sold. And the ads are focused on things we might actually be interested in, which makes us more likely to consume. But being the super stubborn person I am, I suspect I continue to be less likely to buy something that has been advertised to me, simply because of the ad.

Interesting things to muse on in this age.
