Yet another option has made itself known to me, thanks to one of my volunteers. (Background for those who don't know but do care: I will have my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree this Spring; I'm planning on continuing a career in the Natural History/Environmental Science field; My last plan was to register as a Transfer student at Umass Boston and get my BS in Bio/Ecology/Environmental Science.)

So my volunteer suggested I get my degree at the Harvard Extension School (where I'm taking a class now). I looked into it and it seems pretty great--the main advantage being that the commute would be much less of a hassle.

The thing I'm wondering about (thus this post) is the fact that the degree would not be a Science degree. The degree they offer is an ALB, or Bachelors of Liberal Arts (don't ask me why they reverse the orders of the initials) with a Science concentration and a possibility of Field of Study pursuit (dependent on my grades and affording certain benefits).

I don't really plan on being a Scientist, that is, a researcher. I'd actually like to continue what I'm doing, but get to do more fun stuff (writing and field instruction) and less shit-collecting and babysitting.

What do you think?

Thanks, lj friends, for your academic advising services.
