My two favorite photos from my vacation

I have one more day's worth of photos to share, but there's a lot of them and I don't want these two to get buried:

Here's my pal [livejournal.com profile] rockbalancer taking a picture of a very active scolopendra. This genus of centipedes is large, fast, and bears a venomous sting in its front legs that reportedly hurts like a bastard. I'm not allowed to have one as a pet.

This little wolf spider is packed with personality! She's only about an inch and a half in scrunched-up diameter.

Eeeaaauuuuggghh... I grew up in Hawaii. THAT is a centipede. I don't know what those house centipede things are, but they look like wusses compared to Mr (or Miss) scolopendra up there.

(disclaimer, I know what a house centipede is, they have lots of legs and are creepy, but they're little kids in sheets next to the terror that scolopendra subspinipes causes in me XD)

(oh and yes, they hurt like a bastard, and will try and eat your face.)

Scolopendra gigantea? No, definitely do not want as a pet. Or anywhere near me. Too many feets!
