A pair of bluejays took over the tree in our front yard that normally houses a robin nest; last night a half-fledged baby appeared on our porch railing. Since we knew he was toast with Stella (neighbour's cat) roaming, we put him in the lowest crotch of the tree near his nest (which is taking your life into your hands--the bluejays have been giving anything near the tree the business for a few weeks) and wished him luck.
