Zoo Views

Whatever your views are on zoos, it's hard to argue with the experience of seeing a capybara in a field of daisies.

Also at Stone Zoo, a bloom of coprinoid mushrooms growing from the rootball of a fallen tree. True Coprinus mushrooms grow from feces or rich soil, other Genera like Coprinellus grow from the base of trees--even, apparently, when the base is elevated.

I opened the gate for the Franklin Park Zoo train and the driver offered me a ride! I didn't have far to go but I'd never been on: if I get an offer to do something I've never done, I usually do it.
