3:00 snapshot #1330, plus Turtle Pond

Sweatin' on July seventh. The heat wave lasted 5 days. Not bad! Longest July heatwave since 1990.

I took Charlie to Turtle Pond for a quick swim to cool off. There's a dock where people sunbathe and dive off to swim, but next to it are these boulders where the dogs swim. Between the boulders was this little nook of water. See who's inside?

Me neither. Thank goodness my camera is waterproof! It's a male bluegill sunfish, guarding his little scrape of rocks, hoping a female will come by and lay her eggs there.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that Turtle Pond is within the City of Boston.

Hot days attract a good number of people to the pond.

Swimming is forbidden, but many folks risk it, especially as the mercury rises.

Charlie doesn't know it's forbidden!
