Preparing peacock diets.


I have a group of peacocks in quarantine, but we also have peacocks loose in the zoo. One of the zookeepers is training them:

Here Siv is getting the peacock to "target," which in this context means pecking the end of the targeting pole. This is an important step in animal training. Once you have trained the animal to target you can get lots of other behaviors.

Such as: getting on the scale! Keeping track of the animals' weights is vital to monitoring their health.
