The owner's story:
A Concord woman who was attacked by her own dogs is telling her terrifying story for the first time.
This is how Katherine O’Leary and her family prefer to remember their bull mastiff puppies -- the one-and-a-half-year-old brother and sister who came to live with them as newborns.
"It's a tragedy. The whole thing is just a big tragedy,” says O’Leary. “They've been great companions; gentle, good dispositions."
But something made them snap last Thursday when their owner, concord attorney Kathryn O’Leary, took them cross country skiing in the woods. While she wanted to tell us her story, she did not want to appear on camera in her bruised and battered condition.
"My tips went over the edge of the trail and that's when one of the dogs grabbed me by the arm,” she said.
“It did become very rough and got out of hand."
"They were pulling me down through the underbrush and very rough terrain."
This, says O’Leary, was her link to safety was the cell phone. She had to climb back up the trail to get, because it, just like her jacket and other belongings, was scattered.
"So I called and just tried to stand upright."
"If I passed out, it would be much harder for them to find me because I was off the trail."
They did find her and tranquilized the dogs, they said, as a precaution. One of them, named Bosco, has since died. As for his sister, Bella, the family says they are mulling it over.
“We'll seek expert advice and do a lot of soul searching and come up with a final decision."

I wonder if they were trying to help her, got kicked into high drive and had a hard time decelerating (going back to normal).
