I was discussing gender roles with my friend Shyla years ago. I noted that there was some logic to the idea of a woman who just had being the primary caregiver, what that she could make milk and all that, it just so happens that we live in a society where men going "out" and "working" is considered more value. Another view would be that motherhood is honored and amazing, and the now useless man might as well go gather stuff or make money or something. She then brought up one of those simple points we sometimes never realize- just because all babies are born from females doesn't mean all females have babies.Or should. Or want to.
The idea is not necessarily that we should stop making new people, but we should spend more energy on the ones we already have around.Paul Kivel discusses this in "Boys Will be Men" when he speaks about "raising our sons" to mean the society raising it's (in this case) male children-not I raise my kids only and you raise your kids only.
I also love you, but in less ways that cottonmanifesto does.
