Maggie's First Snow
Oct. 23rd, 2003 07:58 amAs I stood in the falling wet snow this morning, hoping Maggie would hurry up and defecate so we could go back inside, I realized my post of some time ago was incomplete. I stated that one of the interesting things about dog ownership is that you experience first hand all the weather of the year. While I otherwise may have slept through the first snow since the winter (October 23, same as last years first snow!) I got to experience it with my puppy. It's her first snow ever! She liked it about as much as I did, refusing to move once the wet sticky coldness hit her body. Good thing we rescued her from upstate NewYork!
When the end of the world comes, and fire rains from the sky -- or meteorites or acid or fish or locusts or whatever -- the dog owners of the world will be out there at 7 in the morning dodging balls of magma, calmly walking by those driven insane by the doom around them, and stand while their dogs defecate. Then they'll come inside to their sleeping spouse, put their shoes up where the puppy can't get them and say "Hey honey, it's raining fire out there today."
