I really have to finish my set of pictures from Chile; now that the summer is ending, I"m getting some great local pictures that I haven't resized yet. So anyway...

Buin Zoo Artropodario

Many zoos have arthropod exhibits (bug zoos). I liked Buin Zoo's a lot. The exhibit rooms were dark, to encourage normal behavior from these often secretive animals. So dark that photography was difficult, but by setting the camera on macro and actually resting the lens on the exhibit glass, I got a couple decent shots.

Yes, it's true, I've come to the end of my vacation photos, only one full month after I started posting them. I hope you enjoyed them, and will stick around for the mushroom season, wherein I post endless photos of fungal sporocarps.

Albino squirrel

We saw the famous white squirrel of Jamaica Pond yesterday. We were riding by on our bikes, I was babbling about something when I saw it, and said "HEY white squirrel!!" in a voice loud enough that ensures that I will scare Bigfoot away when I see him. The squirrel acted normal enough. cottonmanifesto managed this photo while still mounted on Fizzy (her bike). She handed the camera to me and I completely muffed my (relatively long) opportunity to get a closer shot. I skulked over to one side of it, it ran toward a tree, a nearby dog barked, the squirrel shot up the tree to where it could not be photographed.
