Hello to those of you who have added this journal in the last few days! I understand most of you belong to a gardening community, and my journal came up in a discussion of a weed/wildflower. Some of you saw my 365 urban species project, as well. If you are interested in my entries on weeds and other plants from that project, you can streamline your surfing with this link: http://urbpan.livejournal.com/tag/plants

Once you scroll back a few (it was winter in New England--I resorted to writing about hedges and pachysandra, sue me) you'll get to the good stuff. I'm also fond of mushrooms and other fungi, and the link for those creatures is here: http://urbpan.livejournal.com/tag/fungi

There's also a list of my tags along the left hand margin of my journal (if you clicked on the journal itself and aren't reading it as part of your friends list) that includes a lot of specific names of organisms, but you may have to adjust the text size on your monitor to see them all. I go by common names, usually.

By now you've realized that I post a snapshot every day, and that they don't always have anything to do with urban nature. I hope you're okay with that.

Anyway, the more the merrier! I think my journal is a fun place with lots of smart people (smarter than me, most of the time) discussing interesting and sometimes silly things, usually without being mean to one another. Please jump in and comment when you feel inspired, and call me on my inaccuracies if and when you find them. (Differences of opinion are not inaccuracies, but expressions of difference of opinion are still welcome and encouraged). There are other gardeners here (I'm not one, yet) who may or may not be in your gardening community, so the opportunities for learning and growing are great, I think.

Nice to have you reading (if you still are, after all that babbling)!

Left over lo mein.

On this day in 365 Urban Species: Yellow-rumped warbler. At the time, someone commented "good luck finding a yellow-rumped in the city." I've seen them (in the city) every day this week.
