urbpan: (Dr. Dog DMV)

I was in much better spirits today than I have been lately, so I can spare you at least one repetitive post about depression. Today we were short staffed, but an animal had the bad manners to get sick anyway. I was drafted as a veterinary assistant. At one point the head vet said, "Jef, do you know how to run a PVC scan?" Except that it was some other collection of initials. For a split second I wanted nothing more in the world than to suddenly, miraculously for the knowledge of how to do whatever thing she was asking me to do to materialize in my head. When it didn't, I said no. But I do know how to run the x-ray developer, which is why my snapshot today is a picture of the darkroom safe light.

When I came home for lunch there were police and utility vehicles all gathered around the river. I walked over and looked at the water, which was reflecting light in a weird way. I asked a guy what was up and he said there was an oil spill somewhere way upstream. When we walked the dogs along the riverway there were still a lot of trucks around, and oil absorbing booms across the river at various points. It happened a year or so back when a tanker truck overturned in Newton. I wonder what happened this time. We saw two Canada geese all covered in oil.
