Your Mushroom Question
Aug. 28th, 2008 05:47 pmMy mushroom classes at Drumlin Farm are fast approaching, and with the Boston Globe having published an article about this years' boom crop, I expect them to be pretty full. I want to make sure I'm prepared for the questions that the students might have. I'm researching questions of my own, left hanging from last time, and I invite you guys to ask me any questions about mushrooms that you think you'd ask if you were taking my mushroom class.
My goals for the class (as I stated in my voice post last week) are:
1. The students will leave the class knowing what mushrooms are (as a life form) and what their role is in the environment.
2. The students will gain the ability to recognize several distinct local mushroom species, from our walk around Drumlin Farm, and know what their role in the environment is.
3. I will give the students the tools they need to use a field guide to identify mushrooms on their own: what to look for, vocabulary, etc.
