A passion flower Clematis unfurls along the zoo's perimeter fence.


(I think. The fully opened flowers look like this:



There are several vines of them in at least three places in the zoo.

I assume they are old cultivated plantings that still survive.

Passion flower, right?)

EDIT: the wife set me straight. So, are they likely to be remnants of abandoned plantings, or actual wildflowers? They seem way too showy for urban New England wildflowers.
