A change of pace: music
Jan. 10th, 2011 01:00 pmSkip past this if you like, but I have to get this out. It's about music, and our perception of decades.
I like a lot of what could be called "80's music."
In one year the following albums came out:
White Music by XTC
This Year's Model by Elvis Costello and the Attractions
The debut self-titled album by Squeeze
Prince's debut album For You
The Man-Machine by Kraftwerk
Peter Gabriel's second self-titled album
The amazing self-titled debut from The Cars
A Tonic for the Troops by The Boomtown Rats
More Songs About Buildings and Food by The Talking Heads
Systems of Romance by Ultravox
Parallel Lines by Blondie
Music for Films by Brian Eno
Outlandos D'amour, the first and best Police album
The Scream by Souixsie and the Banshees
The debut album Are We Not Men? by Devo
Yes, 1978 was a great year for 80s music.
1979 was also good, with more music from Elvis Costello, Devo, The Cars and Squeeze, and debuts by the Cure, The B-52s and Joe Jackson.
