Today I gave the first of two presentations about my Jersey class. First a high-ranking co-worker sort of semi commandeered the laptop I was using, then berated the IT guy because she couldn't figure out how to switch it from my profile to hers. Then the zoo president asked me to do the presentation at the beginning of the meeting instead of the end. I was very flustered, had difficulty with the tech--stupid stuff like finding the flash drive on the desktop, which was only hard because I was so nervous. Ran through the presentation pretty fast and very self-consciously, worried that I was making the dreaded long meeting even longer. I forgot a couple funny points I wanted to make, and the crowd was disconcertingly quiet. But people seemed to dig it, and a couple coworkers even complimented me afterward. I'm doing it again on Thursday with a larger audience (with about a dozen people present who saw today's version) so I feel like that's my chance to get it right.
Tomorrow is Alexis' birthday! I took the day off, but she was unable to. It'll be a bonus day for me to get some things we need for the house, like a stepladder, since we are both practically midgets and the house has really high ceilings. I'd have to stand on her shoulders if we wanted to change a light bulb or something. She's too busy lately for us to have any kind of couple's fun, but after her schedule calms down I want to take her to dinner and a movie--our first nighttime date in years.
