On our way to The cookout.

It's nice to be posting a picture of Alexis; she's gone to Scotland with her dad for a week. I miss her already. It's probably not much of a secret, or at least not a surprise, that she keeps the house together here. She stands against chaos, and I try to help, but left to my own devices I'd just try to surf the chaos and entropy and wind up blearily surrounded with rubble at the end.

I promise I'll try to remember to do all the things!

Almost forgot I was doing this! You still interested? Were you ever? The music meme continues:

30 day song challenge day 07 - a song that reminds you of a certain event.
This song reminds me of the preparations for my first wedding, when Carrie and Renee and Barb and RAchelle would all gather at the Warren Street house and do whatever it was they were doing. It's a nice memory.

Sometimes outside insects get inside. This is an unidentified moth, for now. I posted it on facebook tagged with the name of a friend who is very good at identifying insects.

EDITED TO ADD My Friend has tentatively identified the moth as Idia aemula, a moth found throughout the northern hemisphere, with the charming common name (in Europe) of "Waved tabby." According to bugguide.net, the larvae eat dead leaves.

OR, she adds, it could be Idia americalis, which I'll call the "American litter moth." The larva of that species feeds on lichen (!) and it is found throughout North America. Or one of the other 16 species in this genus that are found north of Mexico.

Here is the moth, poorly camouflaged on the kitchen wall. Note wonderful painting by [livejournal.com profile] urb_banal.
