3:00 Snapshot #1261: Back from vacation

Back to the glorious clutter of home.




Even more glorious: a walkabout the backyard reveals that a mantis has placed her ootheca on the fence! I can't wait to see the baby mantises!


For some reason these small, almost rectangular beetles kept landing on me. Anyone recognize what they are?

The girls

Blackie and Buffy are bold birds, and have come to understand that the human monsters are the food providers. Whitey might know too, but she's too chi-...nervous to approach us. When we let them free roam Whitey follows along with the other two but takes time out to run back to the security of the coop, just in case.




Blackie even came over close to the dog monster to see what's on the plate!
