I'd like to plant some common milkweed in our yard to help support the sharply declining monarch butterfly population, but we don't have that cinderblock-and-asphalt habitat it seems to need.
I got called to deal with this wasp's nest. I dealt with it by explaining that it was a mud dauber, that it won't bother anybody--it will just grow up eating the delicious paralyzed spiders it's mommy made for it and then fly away some day. Not all stinging insects are pests.
