Since it is both heat and drought tolerant, it grows all over the entire central corridor of Texas (call it the IH-35 corridor, for convenience) including wild in highway medians and rights-of-way. Sorta like forsythia does up here. So there's constant nuisances of keeping pets away from it, and avoiding tracking in the leaves in the fall, where pets or infants might find them on the carpet.
