My mom also had a large collection of little decorative mirrors all over the house, that I *thought* when I was little she had there for the decorations on them -- some had paintings, some were in pretty frames, etc.

Turns out it was so, for example, she could wash dishes with her back to the rest of the kitchen and still know when I was getting into things I shouldn't be into. The arrangement? Totally non-random. ;->
