Noon hill reservation

I can't believe I still haven't posted my pics from last Sunday's adventure in the Noon Hill Reservation in Medfield, Mass. I have to post them now, before they are a full week old! What are lunch breaks for, right?

The ladies, spying a red squirrel.

An American toad that Charlie flushed out of the leaf litter (actually, he stepped on her, and she jumped out of hiding.)

Climbing Noon Hill results in a grand view, with the Patriot's football stadium as the main man-made feature.

In the bare rock at the top of the hill is this copper plaque, indicating that the area is a US Geodetic Survey Magnetic Station.

At the end of the hike, we found this old mill pond, and Charlie did some swimmin.'

Naturally, [livejournal.com profile] rockbalancer did some rock balancing.

No pressure or anything.

I did my lame little single rock balances.
I love finding new beautiful places!

Rockbalancer's pics from the day are here (including a picture of her final balance from the day--very beautiful).
[Unknown site tag]'s pics are here. (wow, I just looked at them again, and they're spectacular.
[livejournal.com profile] belen1974 didn't bring her camera. :( maybe next time?
