Maggots, all the way. I don't mind either dead mice or maggots, but I think I would have a problem with them together. Feces are feces, w/e. And kids can be calmed down. Or given espresso and kittens and given back to their parents.
Maggots are just doing their part to keep the earth free of piled carcasses, so while I probably would have gagged a bit at the image, in the end I don't really mind. The turkey with newspaper stuck on her is actually kind of cute - I wish the 3pm alarm had gone off then!
But yeah - undersupervised children, especially those stressing out animals and their caretakers, are pretty wrong.
The best thing ever is when kids are banging on the herp tanks in the Madre building, and you're inside and hear them. You can pop out the door and give the Look of Death and tell them to stop. The best part is, they never see it coming. They have no idea anyone's around. It's one of the most satisfying things ever...
People think it odd that I don't like children, even though I have children.
It could be that I've taught my children respect and common courtesy. I don't know, because in today's society, I feel like the one out-of-touch. Good on me is all I can say.
The maggot covered mouse comes in 2nd for for the "EW!" factor, though - even though it was probably 100% better behaved and respectful than the screaming hoardes.
