Weed trimmer tutorial.

Disgusting substance of the day: Sticky mixture of pulped goldenrod and spittlebug froth, coating me after I used the weed trimmer.

On this day in 365 Urban Species: Carpenter bee, a common bee often mistaken for a bumblebee.

So, i asked my boss about the whole chicken-eating mealworm thing. I guess what CAN happen is that if the crop is full of food, the mealworm doesn't get down to the gizzard soon enough to be crushed up, so it CAN eat through the crop and it DOES happen. However, it is rare, he said.

But I still suggest waxworms - like I said, we never feed mealworms to chicks because the exoskeletons are too hard. Waxworms are more easily digestable - squishy and soft. They get REALLY gross when they're dead, though. Black and slimy...YUCK!!
