Some restful time in between two epic dog walks to Ward's Pond. The wildlife is amazing today for some reason. We saw great blue herons, a black-crowned night heron, a pair of eastern kingbirds, tree swallows and bank swallows, many turtles including a painted turtle laying eggs, dozens of pumpkinseeds guarding their nests, three eastern cottontails, and a Norway rat--all of which were very close to the path eying us suspiciously. And as I'm writing this a skunk is milling about in the yard across the street. I love the summer.
My friend Gribley encountered a deer down the street from my house, in a park very close to a very active part of the city. See the evidence here.
