AMAZING icon!
I used to work for an environmental assessment company, doing surveys of streams, ponds and ditches. We used to find them in streams quite a lot, some huge ones, almost as big as my little finger (~6cm).
My favourite fly larva is Chaoborus punctipennis:

Although, on reflection, cased caddis flies are probably the coolest.
