Noticing the year 12/12/08
Dec. 12th, 2008 06:44 pmThe unusually cold and unusually warm days came and went at the beginning of the week. From Wednesday until this morning it's been raining, first a warm rain, then raw and nasty. This morning was the worst, as the rain built up enough to flood many places, and cold air came in with it, becoming an ice storm in the Worcester Hills and other places. The road to the zoo was flooded out in a couple places, and fortunately I made it through before the police shut off access. A lot of people North and West of Boston have lost power, and a lot of tree limbs fell on a lot of things.
But now it's clear and crisp out and feels like December. The Muddy River is still swollen, but has receded from it's high mark when it threatened to swallow the path through the park. The moon, which I haven't seen since I remarked about her convergence with Venus and Jupiter, is suddenly full and bright.
