I like something about winter:

One of the things I really love about winter is walking on frozen bodies of water. You get a whole new viewpoint, standing in a place that was impossible to get to a few weeks before. Today I took Charlie to Dane Park in Brookline, and the little marshy area I call Deer Tick Swamp was totally iced over. I was able to walk over to a long dead tree and see the undisturbed coating of British soldier lichen growing on it. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so all you get is this awful cellphone pic, but now I know they're there, I'll return. Alexis thinks they may be the closest British soldiers to the center of the city. Maybe I'll have a contest.

Here's a link to our first visit to Dane Park--including some British soldiers.

That's crazy. I've seen people waaaay out on Worden's Pond, ice fishing and skating. I don't know how they can be so confident of the ice's thickness way out there. There are not markers or anything to let people know. It looks like fun, yeah, but if you mess up, you're toast. :( COLD toast.
