A quick trip to Connecticut

I went to my dad's house Friday, because my brother was coming to spend the night before he and my dad go to Germany together. Here are some pictures of the town where I grew up. This is a tobacco barn under construction.

My brother's flight was delayed, so my dad and I went to the Connecticut River Canal Towpath.

This is the bridge over the Connecticut River linking Suffield with Enfield.

This is the canal.

My brother's plane did finally come in. The next morning after breakfast, my dad's friend Sean took pictures of the three of us together with all of our cameras.

The three of us went to the Towpath again. We ran into these guys who had been students of my father back in the 70s. The one guy thanked my dad for instilling a love of Enfield history; his hobby is finding and photographing all the civil war graves in town. I think this is his website.

We walked 2 and half miles, to where there is an aquaduct that lifts the canal up over a tributary of the river.

While resting on a bench, I saw this fly--I have no idea what species it is (anyone?)

On the same bench was this amazing purple damselfly; the bench was its territory and it kept getting into skirmishes with another damselfly.
