Charlie stands on some of the last remaining ice in Boston, on Ward's Pond.

This is the waterfall that brings water from Jamaica Pond to Ward's Pond.
This was the first time in many months that we've seen it so active.

Maggie wanted to hunt for frogs, but there aren't any yet.

This is the stream that takes the water from Ward's Pond down to Willow and Leverett Ponds.
It's called Babbling Brook until it's past Leverett Pond, and then it's the Muddy River.

This patch of forest is just inside of Brookline.
The park is full of these old lamppost bases.

At Leverett Pond there was a single coot, along with all the ducks and geese.

We didn't see or hear any red-winged blackbirds, but song sparrows were singing along the banks.

This panorama shows (from left to right) the bridge which takes the water from Leverett Pond to the Muddy River,
the Jamaicaway onramp, the apartment buildings of Mission Hill and Jamaica plain in the foreground,
and the MATEP tower in the background.
