This quote is from an article about the meeting between New Orleans Mayor Nagin and the President. Nagin's tirade on radio got president's attention The part that made my eyes bug out and spit involuntarily is bolded by me.

In their two hours together, first on Air Force One and then during a flyover of the city in the president's helicopter, Nagin said Bush did not mention the radio tirade until the mayor himself brought it up.
"I told him: 'I said some things yesterday that may have offended you, and if they did, I apologize. But if you were in my shoes, what would you do?' " Nagin said. "He said he had heard I had said some things, but that he really didn't understand all of it. And then he said: 'You and I are OK.' "

That is my very favorite Tick quote! (although I remember it as "no offense intended") I actually thought of it last night when we were watching an episode of Firefly that Ben Edlund wrote.

Oh, and on topic? I'm horrified but not surprised to hear that Bush could truly be that stupid.

Yep, I think you got the quote right. It's funnier that way. I just came back from a birthday party where I was one of three or four people with a mealanin deficiency. Everytime the kids were off at a game or beating the snot out of a pinata the topic truned to Nawlins. They were not thrilled. I suspect the republican party has lost some of it's diversity through this.

It will be very interesting to see...

I'm glad you guys are here to divert my journal to a lighter tangent, honestly.

Barb since you brought it up, every time I see the credits to Firefly, I scream, "Hey Ben Edlund? That's the same name as the Tick creator!" So is it really the same guy, who worked for the same company as us three? (Yet another semi-famous Mass Art dropout?)
