This is the signage at the entrance of the Jewels of the Forest aviary.
This is a lot of text to expect zoo guests to read.


It gets crowded in this aviary.


Unidentified (by me) songbird. I don't even have a continent to narrow it down for you.
A tropical forest bird, more than likely.


A brief rainstorm made the aviary mesh more visible to my camera.
Durrell uses a mesh with less than one inch gaps.


This area includes overhead tunnels for the mongooses!

Near the aye-aye exhibit is this neat idea. They were out of bamboo pieces when I took this picture.
They feed the aye-ayes insect larvae hidden in short sections of bamboo, allowing the animal to feed in it's normal, bizarre fashion. After feeding they collect the bamboo, sterilize it, and make it available as a souvenir.






Macky gets a close up of a gentle lemur.


The indoor gentle lemur exhibit had this interesting tangle of bamboo to climb on.


This is the only species of lemur found exclusively in a swamp habitat.


The outdoor gentle lemur exhibit was sunshiney that day.




This ring-tailed lemur was definitely sunbathing.
