Snowy Stony Brook

The predicted scary blizzard manifested (in Boston at least) as a very agreeable snowfall. Just enough to coat everything and make it pretty (and cover the nasty brown snow left over from the real blizzard), not enough to make the roads too dangerous. We went to Stony Brook Reservation, some public land in the southernmost reaches of Boston, very close to a certain house we admire.

The snow-dusted vines on the right are poison ivy.

Dead white pines and their promising young offspring.

A barrier, just in case you decided to turn off of Washington street into the woods. (It says its a fire lane, which I guess means they want to keep it clear in the event that they want to drive a firetruck through the woods?)

You might remember this motorcycle from this post.

Some unknown bluish berries.

Japanese barberry.

Then we drove over to this house and sighed.

The snow really brings out that red trim. It looks like a sturdy, cozy place.

I love snow photos like this, where you have that smidgeon of color - like the barberry berries - which stands out so pefectly. Of course, with more snow predicted, I can try to get some of those shots myself ;)
