Snowy Stony Brook, now with MORE SNOW

We headed to Stony Brook Reservation again this weekend, to see how pretty it was. It was very pretty.

One of the interesting things about our most recent snowstorm can be seen here. The snow mostly came from one side, and was wet so it stuck. Over the course of the storm the temperature plummeted, and it hasn't really gone above freezing since. Usually a snow is pretty the first day, then it falls off of all the trees and stuff and is just on the ground getting dirty. This snow stayed pretty a long time. However over the past few days it's been gradually falling in chunks.
As @DJ_Christ_2006 put it: "Though it's no longer snowing, snow continues to fall. From trees and powerlines and buildings and stuff. Think we'll get another 2 inches."

Once we got a few steps into the snow, we found there was no trail at all, just 15 inch deep snow that was really really hard to walk in. We gave it our best shot, and the dogs were game, but after about 15 minutes we gave up, exhausted and sweaty.

Then we went over to ogle and sigh at this house. (17 days past original agreed closing date...)

Date: 2011-01-16 08:13 pm (UTC)The house across the street just went on the market, and Ray and I busted up when we heard the asking price: $50K more than our house was most recently assessed at. Both houses are all-brick. Both have three bedrooms and no family room. Yikes. I've heard of starting high, but that's nuts!
