I went and visited my dad this weekend. At one point, Charlie got up in his lap in the passenger seat.


I helped remove an air conditioner from a window. Once it was out I was surprised to find a bird's nest had been built in the little nook there. You can see how the back of the nest bears the imprint of the a/c's vent louvers.


Then we went to South Hadley to pick up a piece of furniture from craigslist. On the way we passed this house with all this interesting poultry. Guineafowl, both barred and white, up above, and turkeys below. Also a cat.

Is that the house just off Route 2 in Irving? Or a different one? Because we've seen the turkeys AND the part-albino peacock at the one on Route 2.

Nope, this one is in South Hadley. I think I'd like to keep guineafowl--they're pretty interesting.

Our bedroom AC is always an invitation for starlinghttp://urbpan.livejournal.com/1194717.html?mode=replys or house sparrows to build a nest. It's fun to hear little birdie feet on the AC enclosure first thing in the morning. It's not so much fun when there's a squabble of "Mine! Mine! Mine!" at first light on a Saturday morning...
