Find the most ludicrous part of this "news" story intro:

A FAMOUS gay penguin at New York’s Central Park Zoo has reignited the “culture wars” over homosexuality by going straight.

Silo, a chinstrap penguin, had been in a six-year relationship with another 18-year-old male called Roy. The pair even raised a chick together when their keepers gave them a donated egg, after they tried unsuccessfully to hatch a rock.

I'll hazard a guess

Was it the fact they haven't renamed Silo Siegried yet?

Side note: I found a stick bug on my rubber boot in the lounge at work the other day. At first I thought it was pine needles, but when I saw how it was sitting there, I did the 'poke' test, and lo and behold, it moved! I moved it onto a tree - it was so cool!!

Plus, I LOVE the gay penguin!! Did you see the Daily Show episode where they interviewed people about it? It was great!

Alas, the only thing I really miss not having cable.

To spin the tangent further:

I watched an interview with Barack Obama last night, and he quoted the Daily Show (!)
I can't picture any other politician doing that.

Pretty neat, about the stick bug!

You know, there are ways of watching TV shows without cable, or even a television... Ever hear of bittorrent?

No, I sure haven't. If it involves watching tv on the computer, we have dial-up at home (maybe dsl soon?), and we use a Mac, if that matters.

Hey! I was just thinking about you last night because there was a story about a guy who committed some crimes, went AWOL and became a poet/activist and heartily and sincerely (they showed it on tv) apologized for his crimes. The families affected are demanding that he serves his full sentence.

I wish I was smart and could remember details.

A FAMOUS gay penguin
Why do we care about the sexuality of a penguin except from a scientific angle?

reignited the “culture wars” over homosexuality
What? When did they go out?
