Hopefully the anteater exhibit will open on time, there might be some delay because the main guy who was building it died suddenly at work the other day. (I haven't heard exactly what happened, but it seems like it was a heart attack.) He did the best carpentry work at the zoo (and you'd be surprised how much of the zoo is actually made of wood) and will be missed. I didn't know him well, but we usually left work around the same time and said goodbye to each other. Nice fella, Frank was.

I tried not to show too much of him in this snapshot, since I didn't ask his permission. Now I kind of wish I had a good picture of him here.

I'm sorry about your loss, and the zoo's. I was hoping the (to be continued) thing was going to be something about an ant shortage :P

I imagine people add your LJ to their friends list all the time because of your great photos, but I wanted to leave a comment that I especially enjoy your Tropical Forest photos because I used to volunteer there. :) I was a Thursday volunteer for about a year and a half (I stopped at the end of the year because I was seven months pregnant). Your photos make me wish I was still there!

I am very sorry to hear about Frank. I don't know if I ever got to meet him, but it's a great loss for the zoo.
