A sure sign of a white-footed mouse infestation: Textbook mouse hole (almost a cartoon mouse hole) overflowing with empty chewed acorns.

But they're so cute!

I agree! In fact, I think they're the cutest of all the Lyme disease vectors!

Remember our white-footed mice? Two of which I killed with traps and then three of which I got rid of with catch-and-release traps? I heard (from you? or from looking up online) that they could find their way home from two miles away, so the first one I drove to more than two miles away, to a woodsy side of the road, and released. The other two, I was like, eff this, and just took them to the nearest undeveloped area, about half a mile away. For about two weeks, there were no mice, and then all of a sudden--a mouse again! So we figured one of those two found its way back. So we caught it and took it to the more-than-two miles-away place.

We haven't had any mice since.
