This is the only animal in my care at the moment, a young orphaned opossum that will be an educational program animal. She is quarantining at the hospital for a month. My coworker named her Flo.

This is Santa's chair.

I Ferocious. Lemme alone!

I knew a female opossum, part of an outreach program. We didn't even think of handling her when she was in season. Bitey!

There seems to be a LOT of contrary opinions on what to feed a captive opossum. MBD is apparently a serious issue. What do YOU feed the little lady?

Yeah, I remember when we were trying to come up with our own new possum diets at Drumlin the online info was very contentious.

Our diet is both dog and cat dry chows, and small amounts of cantaloupe, apple, carrot, banana, and kale.

I saw a hilarious bit in one of those cheesy When Animals Whatever style shows. A woman had called out the local animal rescue group becuase there was a "monster" in her cupboard. She was genuinely afraid of the thing and didn't know what it was. It turned out to be one of these.

I think they're cute, but I can see how one lunging at you out of a cupboard would be scary.

Do you have a friend with an iPhone? Maybe Flo likes playing antsmasher...

Beardies have much better eyesight than opossums. I think if she showed any interest at all you could call the game "phone smasher."
