As seen in my sneak preview post, this is my Dad on the balcony of Casa Cubuy, the lodge we stayed for two nights. This place is way way at the end of a tiny road way up in El Yunque National Rain Forest.

One of the first things I noticed were these huge land snails.

Almost immediately after arriving we hiked down an amazingly steep trail.

Everywhere we stepped, anoles darted out of the way.

At the bottom of the trail was Rio Sabana.

A young couple was hiking (climbing) up the waterfall.

I was more amazed by the tree ferns.

And the big snails.

Dad took a little break to build strength for the climb back up.

It was an impressive feat.

A radar tower at a high peak nearby watched over us. We didn't realize it, but soon after I took this picture the tower would disappear into the clouds and not be visible for the rest of the trip.

Back to the room for a well-deserved break!
