Another mouth to feed

My friends Siobhan and Gabe gave us this pitcher plant last year. It's produced three pitchers, but this is the first one to open normally!

I had to get rid of all my carnivores- they ate my bees! The sarracenias filled up 3 foot tubes with them. Sure, they ate other bugs too- but it was a bee massacre!

I had one of these years ago and I was telling my boyfriend's mother that they eat bugs, and she gave me a shocked/disgusted look and look and said "bastards!". I thought it was pretty funny.

It looks like it is smiling. I read "The Day of the Triffids" as a kid and it scared me silly!
