Bees attack dozens of Baltimore schoolchildren

EW YORK (Reuters) - Dozens of children at a Baltimore-area elementary school were stung by bees after stumbling upon them during a science lesson Thursday, fire department officials said.

The entire second-grade class of about 100 students at Deep Creek Elementary School was studying trees in nearby woods when one child disturbed a nest of bees.

The distressed bees stung 47 children, two of whom suffered a mild allergic reaction.

"There was a bit of pandemonium at the school for a while, but nobody was seriously hurt," said a fire department spokeswoman, adding that classes continued.

Seven children went home with their parents, while the other 40 were taken to the hospital as a precaution, she said.

a couple of summers ago B disturbed a hornet's nest while raking. It was pretty bad. 20 some bites, I seem to recall. They didn't give up, either, kept following him and biting him.

I'd call that a pre-emptive strike, on behalf of the garden.

YOU DID IT!

I have been bawling on and off all day and fighting with B whenever he called and tried yet again to apologize (and/or get cranky because I am not yet over some weed-whacked plants, for Pete's sake) - AND YOU MADE IT BETTER.

I don't need to kick his rear now. The (American military-minded) hornets already did! mwah-ha.

(No offense to the hornets, of course)
