Alexis curled up with the pups. Turtle is a very special pit bull.





Earlier that day, I cooked sausages on the fire, one of the activities that makes me most contented.



I served up those sausages alongside eggs from our hens, fried in rings of orange pepper.


Alexis doesn't like mushrooms but Alex and I do. Nothing like a health insurance mailing to make a brunch appetizing.

Alexis is correct. Mushrooms are revolting. I will eat a raw one, but cooked ones - glaaahhh!

I have realized lately that I will eat almost anything, mushrooms included, if it is cooked for a long time in butter. That is disturbing if I think about it.
