Another strange constant of my vacations: going to a conspicuous high place and looking around. Here we are at the Griffith Observatory.

From up there we could see the Hollywood sign, and a fire.

Also this cute puppy.

And somehow, the orbit of Pluto. I'm guessing most of the rest of the planets' orbits are represented inside the observatory.

Next high place: Runyon Canyon! Spoiler: I didn't see any rattlesnakes.

Runyon Canyon Park was full of joggers and other very fit people (except us).

It was very hot and dry and reminded me of hiking in Austin.

Next (kind of) high place: Griffith Park. This part of Griffith park was the location of the zoo until the mid 60's.

Some of the old enclosures are still there.

My brother does enjoy clambering up some old ruins.
