A group of us from the New England Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers went to visit Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence Rhode Island! Here is my vice president Sarah, modeling the "zookeeper in training" hat. A little small perhaps, but she found a shirt that fit.

This crowned crane was pecking at the glass (trying to eat the crane in the reflection I half-joked) then pecked at my hand when put it there as a puppet.

In the Neotropical building this duck was sitting on her nest just above eye-level so I held the camera up over my head to get this shot.

Sarah and I tried for a while to get a pic of this hyperkinetic tree shrew. Very cute these cousins of ours! (Primates are thought to be descended from a tree shrew like ancestor).

Its behavior and appearance were very reminiscent of the squirrel thing in Ice Age.

It's nice to see giraffes out in the relatively warm day!

We tested their concessions: above average marks for the veggie burgers!
