Creatures of East Dedham

I'd like to imagine that The Halfmoon and Mockingbird is a pub that smells of Nag Champa.

Dead man's fingers is a weird, highly variable mushroom that grows from dead wood. These are growing directly from the middle of the lawn, where there must be some submerged dead tree roots.

This moth is a visitor to the front stoop light. I thought maybe a snout moth, on account of the snout, but now I'm not sure.

The spiderwort is open and looking nice and crisp (with the manual focus).

Many of the strawberries are aaalllmost ready!

This one was ready enough for this mold that colonized it! Enjoy, you crazy little fungus organisms, and leave the rest alone please!

You have strawberries already? The tiny green ones aren't even out here yet. The spring is extremely late here, as everyone keeps saying.

I would drink in that pub.

I met a druid guy last night who was extremely embarrassed by both the terms "druid" and "pagan". I meant to say to him how do you feel about pantheist, but I never got around to it. Crap story!

Our spring came as scheduled, and we just finished up a heat wave (3 days of 90+ degrees F) so the garden plants are roaring ahead. Strawberries here are generally ripe around mid-june, so we just have a few eager plants making early fruits!

We picked a bunch of strawberries this morning--it's a good year for them... at least in our little patch.

Your first photo there is joyous. And that would be a great-smelling pub :-)
