On Saturday my dad and I headed up to Maine to see some relatives that I hadn't seen in a long time. My Aunt and Uncle I hadn't seen since my mom's memorial, my cousin I hadn't seen since his sister's wedding (31 years ago this week), and his wife I'd never met before! Note to UK/Aussie readers: my dad is probably not flipping everyone off here, he's telling a story that involves counting to two. I think.

The cabin is in shade of the tall white pines.

I won't divulge their ages, but I will say my aunt and uncle look terrific.

Even their shoes are adorable.

Perfect weather graced the day.

The cabin sits on Great East Lake, which straddles the Maine and New Hampshire border.

Pines, spruce, and hemlock ring the lake.

After a we caught up for a while I couldn't stand it any longer and had to start photographing the wildlife all around us. First, a big robber fly, resting on a chair.

A very small mushroom (I won't attempt an identification) just away from the deck where we sat.

A nice big mayfly! We don't see you guys too much down by the city!

And for whatever reason, a whole bunch of these short-horned grasshoppers were perched on the wall of the cabin.
So great to see everyone again! Maybe it won't be an entire lifetime before we meet again!
