3:00 snapshot #1361: Charlie in Turtle Pond

On Sunday, Alexis and I took Charlie and Albee to Turtle Pond. It was pretty warm but not as hot as it has been earlier in the summer. The Pond had many bathers in attendance, some of whom appear to be riding Charlie's head.

For you new folks, Charlie loves to swim, but requires that we throw small rocks in order make little splashes for him to chase.

Albee went near the water, but did not go in.

He did go on to the dock to socialize with all his new friends.

Sometimes I wonder if he would swim all the way to the other dock. Probably, but I would have to be able to throw the rocks that far.

I love that top one. Looks like Charlie is cruising the dock, scoping out his next human meal.

Albee is such a cutie. I'd never be able to let go of him. If I was only closer ... :)

I grew up living on the shore of a spring fed pond. We used to have a dog, an English Springer Spaniel, that loved to swim. She was so nuts about swiming that she would run off the end of the dock with us kids and belly flop into the water. Eventually she started running off the dock without us just for fun. If we threw a rock in the shallow (up to about 4 feet deep) water and she saw it bloop in, she would swim over to it then dive down and get it and bring it back to us. We were always careful to not throw them too deep for her. It used to amuse everyone that she would dive under and get the rocks and bring them back to shore. She would swim out for balls and frisbees too.

that picture of Charlie would be fun with the theme of "jaws" playing...
